Senator Bayh,
As a practicing physician I have major concerns with the health care bill before Congress. I actually have read the bill and am shocked by the brazenness of the government’s proposed involvement in the patient-physician relationship. The very idea that the government will dictate and ration patient care is dangerous and certainly not helpful in designing a health care system that works for all. Every physician I work with agrees that we need to fix our health care system, but the proposed bills currently making their way through congress will be a disaster if passed.
I ask you respectfully and as a patriotic American to look at the following troubling lines that I have read in the bill. You cannot possibly believe that these proposals are in the best interests of the country and our fellow citizens.
Page 22 of the HC Bill: Mandates that the Govt will audit books of all employers that self-insure!!
Page 30 Sec 123 of HC bill: THERE WILL BE A GOVT COMMITTEE that decides what treatments/benefits you get.
Page 29 lines 4-16 in the HC bill: YOUR HEALTH CARE IS RATIONED!!!
Page 42 of HC Bill: The Health Choices Commissioner will choose your HC benefits for you. You have no choice!
Page 50 Section 152 in HC bill: HC will be provided to ALL non-US citizens, illegal or otherwise.
Page 58 HC Bill: Govt will have real-time access to individuals’ finances & a ‘National ID Health card’ will be issued!
Page 59 HC Bill lines 21-24: Govt will have direct access to your bank accounts for elective funds transfer.
Page 65 Sec 164: Is a payoff subsidized plan for retirees and their families in unions & community organizations: (ACORN).
Page 84 Sec 203 HC bill: Govt mandates ALL benefit packages for private HC plans in the ‘Exchange.’
Page 85 Line 7 HC Bill: Specifications of Benefit Levels for Plans — The Govt will ration your health care!

Page 149 Lines 16-24: ANY Employer with payroll 401k & above who does not provide public option will pay 8% tax on all payroll! (See the last comment in parenthesis.)
Page 150 Lines 9-13: A business with payroll between $251K & $401K who doesn’t provide public option will pay 2-6% tax on all payroll.
Page 167 Lines 18-23: ANY individual who doesn’t have acceptable HC according to Govt will be taxed 2.5% of income.

Page 469: Community-Based Home Medical Services = Non-Profit Organizations. (Hello? ACORN Medical Services here!?!)
Page 489 Sec 1308: The Govt will cover marriage and family therapy. (Which means Govt will insert itself into your marriage even.)
Page 494-498: Govt will cover Mental Health Services including defining, creating, and rationing those services.
Senator, I guarantee that I personally will do everything possible to inform patients and my fellow physicians about the dangers of the proposed bills you and your colleagues are debating.
Furthermore, if you vote for a bill that enforces socialized medicine on the country and destroys the doctor-patient relationship, I will do everything in my power to make sure you lose your job in the next election.

Dear all my friends at 48 Days and Write It Forward:
Short stories and essays have been a hobby since the late 1960′s for me. Thank God for passionate English teachers! Who could cope with all the stresses of life without sincere encouragement?
Recent years have reminded me of how much fun life is with a great sense of humor, especially when life hands us incidences that others find fearful, such as getting a possom in one’s house…I’ve written a short story about that, and it’s turned into both a children’s story and an adult version with recipes, etc. It was fun.
Hoping I’m not writing more than will benefit you, I’m really writing to you all because the Lord provided someone (and I embraced the list) with the 7 needs of every person for having a healthy life.
Immediately I saw a sort of Chicken Soup for the Soul version and asked if anyone would like to participate in gathering stories for such a publication.
Here are the seven needs for you to ponder:
Dignity
Authority
Purpose and Meaning
Security
Blessing and Provision
Freedom and Boundary
Security
Intimate Love and Companionship
The Bible study I got this from stated that when any one of these needs are not met in accordance with God’s plan for our lives, strongholds develop. That resonates, doesn’t it?
So, if you are interested in writing (even just an essay) about your life experience on how you found liberation by understanding the importance of knowing God in order to experience life the way He intended, I’d love to hear from you.
I’m also receptive to suggestions about simplifying this process.
With e-books selling faster than hard copies, I see tremendous potential for this being published and selling at a very reasonable price.
If you’re just getting serious about being published (that’s where a lot of us are, so we’re in good company!) this will give you a hand up! Once you’ve seen your name in print, you’ll see how much credibility will benefit not just you, but other aspiring authors. I know from experience with Associated Content.

Renae, I was priviliged this morning to share the Shaklee story with my neighbor, and I also was priviliged to share your story of how you got started when your children were little, that now their grown, have never been on antibiotics, and I believe you’ve said that they have never even been to a doctor. Please correct me if the info I’ve shared is inaccurate!
Rusty, I believe there’s a great story waiting to be told about each one of us, and that you and I will ultimately make a living with our writing skills, not to mention our willingness to include other people in our stories! We’ve not met face to face, YET! The key and operative word there is “yet”. We will, even if it’s not until we’re “in the air”.
Jeffrey, you inspire and encourage me beyond words! When I shared with you yesterday that you are my favorite co-worker, I wasn’t kidding! I so enjoy your open and willing attitude, your perseverence, your initiative, and I appreciate your respect for personal boundaries! You what I’m talking about. Right?
Barb, I don’t know what my life would be without you and Earl, and God knows I’m grateful for that! You both are such an inspiration! We’ll talk later!

Tomorrow, Thurs 11/26/09, is Thanksgiving Day in the USA!!! For today, though, remember we just have one month until Christmas, when we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.

With that in mind, let’s just jump right to the promise for today, and then I’ll share what I read in God Calling if I may!

Oh, ponder those words and learn from them My great humility.
There is that gracious invitation, too, for those who yearn to realize a happiness, a rest, a satisfaction they have never found in the world and its pursuits. To them the pleading answer to their quest is “Come to Me, and I will give you rest.”
But to those who do not feel their need of Me, who obstinately reject Me, who shut the doors of their hearts so that I may not enter, to these I go, in tender humble longing. Even when I find all closed, all barred, I stand a Beggar, knocking, knocking. The Heavenly Beggar in His Great Humility.

Defend & Resist Promise for Tues 11/24/09
Hey, just one month until Christmas Eve!
There’s a post about a person who refuses to shop on Black Friday! I’d say “You go girl!!!” if I met her face to face. How about you?
One of my co-workers shops all day on Black Friday. He’s only 21, so let’s just give him a year or two, eh? Ha Ha!
Last year Amazon beat Wal-Mart in gross sales! What does that say? I’d say that anyone not willing to go online is going to find themselves left in the dust, but we’ve got to respect their choices, or alienate them. That’s hardly an option in this day and age, is it?
I’m writing this on Monday night. This morning I’d written the promise prior to looking at my hardcopy calander, so I announced today was the last Monday of the month. Our friend, Russell Emerson, caught the error and was kind (Ha Ha!) to point out my error.
This is my apology if anyone was thrown off. Next Monday is the last Monday of November, and I really am sorry!
I could write a lot more, but would you want to read it? Possibly you would, but you’ll just have to wait! I’ve had a very busy, but productive, day. I’m taking my responsibilities seriously these days, and I’ve got a strategy working to bring Shaklee –the best company on the face of the planet as far as I’m concerned –to the web, with a determination for getting a strong team for changing times around me.
When one has a strong team, one is protected and able to make a quicker recovery when times change again, and as change is really our only constant, I’ll encourage you to keep an open mind about making changes in your life.
So, on that note…here’s a word that you can embrace and be empowered by!
Philippians 4:7-8 “And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.”

The answer is THINK!
Rarely will you find that you’ll regret what you’ve said if you ask those five questions and thought the answer through prior to opening your mouth.
True?
The truth will ALWAYS stand, and even if no one else believes or cares, you’ll still know the truth is what sets you free, right?
Honest ?
One is always able to be honest without apology, and being honest keeps you in your own integrity. Believe it or not, integrity is still valuable to some!
Inspiring?
Inspiration can come from what you see, hear, smell, touch and think about, right? “To inspire” literally means (from the Greek) “to breath into”. Think about that for a while, and respond when you are able.
Necessary?
Necessity comes out of a need. We all have them, but many people mistake needs for wants and wants for needs. Get those two straight by asking if your wants being met will harm another and you’ll be on the right track!
Kind?
Kind is another word for empathy. Don’t mistake sympathy for empathy, though. Empathy means you’re coming along side the other person and feeling what they feel with them. Sympathy puts you on the other side of their feelings, not alongside, so unless you don’t want to join your friend, embrace empathy!
Many a healthy relationship has been damaged because the speaker did not, I repeat, DID NOT ask those five questions prior to speaking. In fact, many relationships have ended due to the speakers’ lack of thought.
With so many changes happening in 2009, soon to be 2010, wouldn’t you like to have stable relationships in your future? I’m confident your answer is YES, or you wouldn’t have followed this so far.

Defend & Resist Promise for Sunday 11/22/09
Rutherford County, North Carolina has a rich history that (to my knowledge) has only been written about by Robin Lattimore in his book Gold & Glory.
Robin is our local historian. He conducts tours in Rutherfordton, taking interested parties to St Francis Episcopal Church, St John’s, Green River Plantation, and I believe he’ll even take one to Britain Presbyterian Church.

Today is Sunday, the next to last Sunday of the month of November, and we’re beginning the holiday season with a chill in the air. Overcast this morning, and the temp is probably in the 40′s.
Our promise today comes from 1 Peter 5:6 “Therefore, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He miight exalt you at the proper time.”
There you have it! Nothing is required of you! Just be still and know that God is God, and there is no other…
